But if one follows a good skin care routine during winters one can fight this weather and manage to preserve young and soft skin.

The following steps will help you to take good care of your skin during winter:

Hydration:

Winter calls for hot drinks like tea, coffee, cocoa etc. Hence our intake of cool water is reduced. Drinking at least 4 litres of water is the optimum method of keeping skin fresh and hydrated.

Use a good moisturiser:

Cold air dries your skin soon, so cover up yourself well before you step out in the open. Also, make it a routine to moisturise your face and body well after bathing and towel dry. If you have an oily skin, then use an oil free skin lotion to moisturise your skin.

Use sunscreen:

This sounds funny but you should use a good sunscreen before going out during the day. Apply well before wearing your warm clothes so that it dries and does not stick to your clothes. The UV rays of winters are also harmful and can cause skin troubles.

Care for your lips:

Lips have delicate skin and are licked by tongue many times unknowingly causing dryness. Use a good lip balm to avoid chapped lips and in extreme cold temperatures have a layer of Vaseline on your lips. Always keep the tube along with you to apply frequently.

Eat nutrient rich food:

Winter calls for a nutrient rich diet like organ meat, fish oil etc. These build up stamina to face the cold weather and will help your body to take shape through exercise and workout when required.

  1. Coconut milk: This works wonders on skin by moisturising it. It reduces dark spots and blemishes. Apply overnight and sleep.
  2. Aloe Vera gel: It’s the best remedy for skin. Along with hydration, it also deep cleanses the pores and forms protective layer. After bath, apply aloe gel on your hands and legs to moisturise them.
  3. Oil: Different types of oil have different nutrients. You must change and use different kind’s oil on your body before bath. Coconut oil, olive oil and almond oil are most recommended during winters.
